2021 Program

In the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, the hardships it has brought CPAC leadership, and the uncertainties that we had about DragonCon, we did not run a full CFP and conference for 2021. Instead, we present a small program of panels and roundtable discussions this year, in anticipation of returning to a full conference in 2022.

Friday

11:30am: Race, Gender, & Sexuality in Comics

Location: Mart2 204J (Comics)

A roundtable discussion by comics scholars of issues of identity & representation in comics.

Panelists: Daniel Amrhein, Matthew J. Brown, Jillian Browning, Erin Gordon, Vickie Willis

Saturday

2:30pm: Anonymity, Doxxing, Moderation, Censorship

Location: Hilton 313-314 (EFF Track)

Activists of extreme political ideologies & causes use anonymity and disclosure (doxxing) as tools in their organizing. Some call for content moderation to limit extremism, while others decry this as censorship. Our panelists have studied these practices & the ethical questions at stake.

Presentations:

  • Matthew J. Brown, “Ethics and Politics of Online Anonymity and Moderation.”
  • Pete Rorabaugh, “Two kinds of membership: how Atlanta Antifascists describe the right online”

Sunday
